trying to buy an 1/8" and 3/32" roll pin holder for a couple of builds. Harbor Freight didn't know what a roll pin was, Lowe's knew what a roll pin punch was but had no idea about a holder, and Brownells makes theirs out of fucking gold (at $16 a pop). Any other sources or does Brownell's know they have an exclusive?

There are a couple of reasonably priced sets on Amazon.

BUT for the Bolt Catch roll pin, I HIGHLY recommend the KAK "Walt's Punch" it's a roll pin holding punch.

I have never used a roll pin holder....I just put a piece of a wire sheath/jacket/insulation (the colored plastic bit on the outside of a wire) over my punch tip and insert the roll pin into that.

....but I'm also a bit of a cheapskate too so really it was necessity being the mother of all invention that lead me to this solution.

^ Fantastic idea!

I myself prefer to just push the pins in the vise grips.

Nice. I use electrical tape in the same fashion. Not AS sturdy as the plastic, so I might try that soon

The only one that caused me much stress was the trigger guard one actually. The bolt catch one was a piece of cake relatively speaking.

Since I don't have decent vice grips, I decided on the next trigger guard one I am actually just gonna use a vice. Tape the shit out of the ears, use a block of wood or two, and then finish off with the roll pin punch as needed.

I've never actually seen anyone suggest or use a vice for the trigger guard one before, so thinking I must not be taking something into consideration here.

I've done both but after like 15 lowers I actually ordered the Walt's tool  from KAK and it is the shit. Wish I ordered it along time ago
