I have some raw lowers that will get some type of finish. Do they have to be anodized or is it OK to Kote with a gun finish?  More concerned with durability first, and looks second. Thanks in advance.

Type III anodizing isn't required, but it will be more durable than any coating.

I looked into hard anodizing and it was going to be over 100 bucks per lower. I have been using an epoxy coating from Brownells. It works well enough and if I scratch it I just touch it up.

I am pretty certain that the painted lowers and uppers that Aero sells are not anodized. Based on my limited experience I would want anodizing on my lower prior to coating.
