Purchased a complete Double Star lower from a Black River Works our of Raleigh a while back and did not get around to building it.   While trying to install the buffer tube & spring, I realized the buffer retainer detent hole is missing.   Has anyone run into this issue, or am I just ignorant to a different way of stopping the buffer?

Thanks

Technically it is not needed, but field stripping will be a pain without it.  Probably an oversight during machining.

I had a buddy who's detent kept popping out. The buffer tube needed another turn. For the rest of the range session we just left it out and it ran fine.

I would send it back to them and tell them to get it fixed. Does not speak well for their quality control.

They'll make good on it I bet.  I had one issue with a lower and it got resolved very fast.

Or you could buy a JP Silent Capture Spring and not worry about the detent ever again. Probably the most expensive option but it is a great product and helpful for fine tuning the rifle.

Be aware that SHOT show is going on. Lots of companies are at SHOT. I know Doublestar is.

Thanks guys,  I reached out to the local dealer.  He immediately responded and said that he would help me work with Double Star.   I had a great experience with my first double star rifle, so I am hoping this goes smoothly.

Appreciate the advice etc.
