This will be my very first AR-15 build and I want to get some opinions on the parts that I'm going to be using. My main concerns are any possible headspacing issues or thoughts on them and whether my rail will slide over my barrel and gas block without any issue. Like I said, this is my first build.
Parts list: -Seekins Precision SP223 billet stripped lower -Seekins Precision SP223 billet stripped upper -Battle Arms Development EPS takedown/pivot set -BCM Gunfighter mod 2 grip -CMMG ambi safety selector -ALG defense QMS trigger -Magpul CTR buttstock (milspec) -AR-Stoner receiver extension buffer kit w/ carbine buffer -Spikes Tactical Barking Spider 2 muzzle device -Rainier Arms Avalanche charging handle -BCM standard 16" Mid-length barrel -AimSurplus V2 BCG -Midwest Industries 15" SSK Keymod rail -DSG low profile .750 gas block -KNS Precision Anti-walk pins Any thoughts from you guys would be greatly appreciated. |

I don't think the barking spider belongs on a 16" middy, I would go with something more like an a2 for that barrel.
I only have one QMS, but if they're all the same, KNS pins are a complete waste of money, unless you just think they look cool. ALG triggers come with Geissele trigger pins, and Bill Geissele is very adamant that "anti-rotation" pins are softer, smaller, and altogether inferior to his trigger pins. He goes even further to claim that they can cause damage to receivers. Why would he lie if his trigger pins are already included for free? You pay that premium for a reason, no reason to pay it twice. <edit> I would switch from billet to forged receivers and put the difference towards a Geissele trigger. Nothing wrong with the QMS, but billet will provide nothing except aesthetics, and a good trigger is a major component of a quality gun. |

The Barking spider over-gases on a mid length. I changed that with a Spikes Dynacomp short. Kinda debating the KNS pins but I don't think I'll get them if the ALG comes with anti-rotational pins. I can't bring myself to change the receivers . I just love the look and features of them from what I've seen and read. Gonna keep the ALG since I already have it (just came in today) for now and upgrade later on. Thanks for your input and help! |

| This is just me. What ever you do keep it simple. Don't think too much about getting the of the best of best parts for your first. I would skip the billets, yes the billets are sweet as hell, and stick with simple. Aero, spikes, anderson or Palmetto. Yes they don't look as pretty but you'll save some coin that you can use on ammo. |

Yes they don't look as pretty but you'll save some coin that you can use on ammo. I definitely like the idea of keeping it simple. Ive revised my list a bit after talking to you guys here. The billet upper and lower I can't part with though. I just love the look and features it has already and I already ordered it. Should be coming Tuesday. What's the best forged lower to go with though. Maybe for a future build |
