I am planning my first AR build and plan on going with a .300. I am going to purchase most of my parts on Black Friday but I'm not sure where to get the barrel /complete upper I am looking for. I will be using it for pig and coyote hunting so subsonic is not what I'm going for. I want the most  energy/velocity I can get so I am thinking I want a 16"+ barrel preferably 18-20 without sights since I will be adding some type of optic. I chose .300 BLK because it seems like the most economic .30 cal build so I would like decent barrel under $400 if possible. Suggestions on manufacturer would be appreciated.

I strongly believe that Aero/BA offer the "best bang for the buck" in terms of quality, features and accuracy.

Also, if you do want longer than 16", I believe your only option maybe contacting BHW, as most (or all) 300 barrels are 16" or less.  Yes, there are velocity gains past 16", but it is the point of diminishing returns.  IOW- There will be very little difference in real world performance between a 16" or an 18", or even a 20".

ymmv

Lastly, if this is your very first AR, I highly recommend getting a 5.56 AR to start, then adding variants like the 300, 6.5, 6.8, etc.

Keep in mind that .300BLK is loaded with fast burning pistol powders. Very little, if any, to be gained after 16"

The reason I am not interested in getting a standard 5.56 is because I like that the BLK has more energy and a larger hole. Since it will be almost completely used for hog and coyote hunting. Sounds like 16" is the way to go. Thanks
