As a complete noob to building an AR15 and wanting to keep my first build as cheap as possible, is this worth buying ? http://palmettostatearmory.com/ptac-16-mid-length-5-56-nato-1-7-phosphate-rifle-kit.html

| PTAC (Practical Tactical) is sorta a bargain basement AR parts maker that I guess Palmetto bought. Any of the PSA branded kits should be of higher quality, but I can't say that for sure, since they could just use PTAC and not mention it now that they own them. PSA has been known to source FN barrels, but I don't know how to determine which, maybe someone can say? |

Just need to keep it low cost for now. Tnx, Jeff Quick lesson for you when it comes to PSA ... PTAC < Freedom < Premium. Get a Premium rifle kit if you can afford it. My first build was a PSA blemished lower and a Premium Rifle Kit and it's still my favorite gun. |

Thanks for the feedback guys. Anxiously awaiting Black Friday. In the mean time I found this. http://allegiantrifleworks.com/product.black-friday-preorder-ar-build-kit-2275 One concern is the Wylde barrel. My understanding is that it limits me to strictly using .223 ammo. Any thoughts ?
PS: Main uses will be plinking and home defense. |

"The .223 Wylde is a proprietary rifle cartridge chamber with the external dimensions and lead angle as found in the military 5.56×45mm NATO cartridge and the 0.2240 inch freebore diameter as found in the civilian SAAMI .223 Remington cartridge." That means it's safe for both .223 and 5.56. |
