Hello all. I'm fairly new the to whole AR15 thing. Infact, I purchase my first AR15 (M&P15 Sport) in early September. Not long after, I became addicted. Recently, I was at my local gun shop to purchase more bling for my M&P sport, I came across a Noveske upper assembly w/ a 16in CHF barrel and a Vltor MUR upper. I picked it up but I didn't like the look of a Noveske upper with a M&P 15 lower. So I embarked on building a new lower. So far, I have assembled the following:
Lower Receiver: Gen III Noveske Lower (7 more days to wait) Trigger: Geissele SDE trigger Buffer and Spring: No brand Milspec tube with Chrome Silicon Spring Grip: Magpul Moe Foregrip: Magpul AFG2 Sight: Aimpoint Pro and back up Troy flip up battle sight set LPK: Basic Strike Industry Kit from Amazon, no grip & trigger assembly Other: Magpu QD end plate, Magpul bad lever and CA bullet button My question resides with the LPK - I selected this because it had quickest shipping but I am having second thoughts as I have no idea what is the difference between LPKs (excluding rigger and grip). I am seeing conflicting things online as some say all are the same while others swear by main brands such as DD/LWRC. Just wanted to get some feedback as this is my first ever AR build, so any guidance would much appreciated. |
| There is not a lot of difference when it comes to the basics in a LPK that does not include the trigger. Spikes includes coiled roll pins in their LPK and I have heard that Rock River does the same. I think KNS makes some of the nicest machined parts in a LPK but their kit does not come with springs, roll pins, mag release, safety selector or bolt catch. You will be fine with the Strike kit. |
| Some brand seem to have better than average triggers, Stag and DD are two of them. If you're not going to be using the trigger I've never noticed much difference between Bushmaster, DPMS, Stag, DD, or PSA LPKs. Other than the Bushmaster and DPMS kits missing a spring that is, one bolt catch spring and one pivot detent spring. |
