Almost finished with my first precision build, sixth build overall. It all started with a Ballistic Advantage barrel that was on sale. The original plan was to hold onto the barrel but as anyone with BRD knows, that ended up not being possible. The next idea was to finish just the upper and buy the stripped lower. The upper was going to share a complete lower for a while but Labor Day sales got the best of me and the remaining parts will be here by the end of next week.
Well, I couldn't wait any longer so I stuck the upper on my M4 block I lower which has a Geissele SSA in it and went to the range today. I wasn't sure what to expect with the barrel. This is my first stainless match barrel but I was a little leery due to the low price (I paid $190 with the pinned low profile gas block add on) of the barrel but I was really surprised. I brought a few different types of ammo and shot my first sub-moa group. That was with 69gr Federal Gold Medal Match and measured 0.87" at 100 yards. Unfortunately I only had five rounds of that so I could only shoot one group of it. The next best was 50gr AE Tipped Varmint which was 1.087" at 100 yards. I was also able to get around 1.5" at 100 yards with 55gr Wolf Gold. All groups were shot off a front rest and rear bag.
