Why the standard barrel over the SS?

Hammer forged rather than the button rifling in the stainless barrels.

My vote is 16" SS because accuracy will be important and 16" because it will be used for SHTF.

16" LW or Enhanced LW mid-length upper (I haven't seen any hard data to indicate the BFH is worth the extra $$$ but YMMV).

I have the bfh 16, fitted later with a kmr rail.  Great shooter. No experience with their Ss barrels.

I'd choose item #3

I don like SS, just a personal thing

My go-to rifle is a BCM 16" BFH (cold hammer forged) Mid-length and it has been great. The BCM BCG and Gunfighter CH are also a great deal for a little bit more money, I would suggest getting those as well.

I am definitely getting the BCG and CH combo with the upper

Also, the 16" barreled uppers come with the BCM mod 0 compensator installed for free...

So, basically everyone is saying the 16" over the 18"?

Now just can't decide between SS and BFH..

not a fan of SS, or the 1/8 twist

They are still good options, though

Any particular reason you are not a fan of SS?
Why aren't you a fan of the 1/8?
What barrel twist is best for 55 grain bulk 223/556?

SS doesn't handle heat as well as bfh/chl or cl, heat kills barrels

Good SS barrels tend to be more expensive than their counterparts

I shoot and load projectiles over 68 grains, and use 75, 77, and 62gr fusion for serious use, and 1/7 is a bit better choice for heavy rounds, though i plink and practice with 50-55 gr.

1/7 can stabilize pretty much any projectile of decent quality, some guys here have gotten VERY small groups with 1/7 with that 50 gr federal stuff from psa

It really comes down to preference

I would go with 13, i am not a huge fan of the way super long handgaurds look, ymmv

Kac makes some of the best flip sights ive used

Magpul pro's are good, as are the moe's.

If you like the HK style, troy makes some great sights

Congrats! After a ton of research, I went with that same exact complete upper. Paired with the Spikes Tactical ST-T2 buffer kit, the rifle runs smooth as silk. I wanted a lightweight, non-magnified optic which led me to "buy once, cry once" on an Aimpoint Micro H1. I personally see no point in needing remove the optic on the fly and i have trust issues with the general public, like when having to leave my rifle at the firing line while checking my target a couple hundred yards away, so i went with the Fortis F1 cantilever mount. It mounts solid with a full length contact surface, the fit and finish is high-quality, and the total weight with the H1 is only 4.1 oz. Pardon some crappy ipod pics.

If you don't dislike the full size Aimpoints, then it's hard to go wrong with the PRO.  Comes with a serviceable mount, too, though I'd swap that out for a good QD mount if I was planning to swap between optics.
