Another one of those things I didn't have the foresight to consider.

I have a 7.5" barrel, and I ordered a 7.2" rail system.  And I'm planning on mounting my specwar 762 once that gets approved.

Yesterday I just slid the rail onto the upper and it even covered up some of the threads where my muzzle brake is going to go.  Same day I saw someone else's post about how much gap to leave from barrel length to rail length, and it's been advised about 1" is minimum.

Well i've been looking at i'm REALLY having trouble finding a free float less than 7".  The closest i've found is DD Omega Rail that spec's call it at 6.88", which is better.

So any suggestions?  Any rail systems you suggest or ideas make mounting the suppressor on/off easier?

I like the idea of the rail going over the suppressor, and I feel like i have seen that on people's rifles before, but the specwar diameter is 1.5".

Just any thoughts to make this work.  I'd like to have it removable so I can use on multiple other systems, and wouldn't want to have to remove rail each time to do so.  Thanks

I have a similar issue with my 10.5 bbl and my 10" rail. it overlaps the muzzle brake but .25 inches or so so mounting a can is impossible at that length. for your bbl" you will need a rail that have more clearance.

check these out: http://www.seekinsprecision.com/bar-hand-guards.html

you can get a longer one that overlaps the can

Over lapping the can does seem to look like an option and likely would look very good.

but because its not a direct thread-on (has the locking system), I dont think i'd be able to easily remove it while rail is still on.  Direct thread would be perfect, but already has the specwar processing.

Just found a 6.125" FFsystem from Rock river arms; lierally has been the only company I stumbled upon who has a pistol length rail.  At least I got out of this jam.  http://www.rockriverarms.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=category.display&category_id=310

YHM and MAS Defense have pistol length rails.  Of the two I would stick with YHM since the MAS Defense rail I had cracked easily and the barrel nut needed to be ground down to fit over the barrel.  The UTG Pro rail I replacecd it with had no such problem.
