Hi. New build is in the works. Just looking for a barrel. Right now I have a dpms bull stainless with target crown and 1x9 twist, but it's only 16 in long. I want something similar, but 22-24 in long. That doesn't cost as much as dpms. Any suggestions?

Thank you! Am I correct to understand that I will be in 300 dollar range for something like that?

JSE 24" barrels

Thanks again. Looks like JSE is the place. Definitely cheaper than anything I could find

Most of the those barrels take the .936 gas blocks so you will limited on the gas blocks you can use.

While the WOA barrels already have gas block, and tubes on them.

$50-60 price difference is a wash after getting a gas block and tube

Ok, question... Since I already have a bull barrel, can't I just reuse the gas block that's on it now?

Bull barrels should be the same under the gas block so, yes.

Thank you all so much!
One last question,
This is going to be a dedicated target rifle, a range queen.
I don't reload, I just plan on using whatever ammo they sell at the chain stores.
I am kinda leaning towards the 1x8 twist, as it appears to be more versatile.
Question is as follows:
Considering the application, is 24-26 inches overkill?
Would I be better off with a 22 in barrel?

Thanks in advance

More than 22" would be overkill really...20" should even be enough.

I am building my first ar upper and I need help finding a barrle with no threads since I live in NY

Can you use a thread protector on a threaded barrel? I don't know NY laws.

I live in KommieFornia so I understand the hoops we have to jump through. Call Faxon maybe they can sell you a barrel before they cut the threads? Can't hurt to ask!

AFAIK there is no factory ammo that would take advantage of a barrel longer than 20”.
I prefer 1:8” twist.

Awesome, thanks everyone.
As far as those faxon barrels, I'd like to keep the bull profile, especially since I already have the .936 gas block setup.
I think I found the perfect one with all your help on that JSE site. Thanks again!

Yeah here in NY you can not have any threads on barrle and if you do have the muzzle brake must be welded on to make it part of the barrle permanent that's at least what I have been told

If you're not reloading going over 20" is overkill.  Standard commercially loaded ammo has a full powder burn just north of 18" so once it has expanded you can actually LOSE velocity by going too long.  Once over 20" you should be reloading, otherwise you're carrying extra weight and unweildiness for no good reason.  The 20s are far more common with a much better selection as well.

Hopefully you're one of those guys that thinks accuracy and barrel length have anything to do with each other.  If so you might want to do some research into that, you'll find they are not the least bit related.

For great barrels at great prices look at ar15performance.com.  No, I don't work for them.

Thanks, I didn't know the full burn length. I just assumed that anything over 20-22 doesn't make any sense, since beyond the burn length the extra barrel would just hurt accuracy, or slow down the coasting round. At least that's my layman understanding.
Also, I'm kinda poor at the moment, lol. And I have zero patience when it comes to toys. I found a full setup on JSE, it's a Wilson bull barrel with gas block and rifle gas tube for 190 altogether. Are Wilson barrels decent?

Also, will I be running into any issues with the bolt? Does anything need to be readjusted after barrel replacement?

Wilson barrels are good to go. Rock River has been using their barrels and a lot of high power shooters, are high masters shooting RR NM uppers
