i have been looking around, and cannot find a 16" barrel that is: mid-length gas system, chrome lined, and in a 1:9 twist.
maybe someone that has been doing this for awhile can point me in the right direction, or give me some good, reputable sites to look at. i had one already to order but it was a 1:7, and after reading a little bit more, the 1:7 is best for heavier rounds, and seeing as ill mostly be firing 55-62 grain, i think the 1:9 would be best. feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. thanks in advance everyone! |

1/7 will work fine. What profile are you looking for? wouldnt 1:7 over stabilize the lighter rounds, leading to a loss in accuracy? and as far as profile, just anything that can withstand heat well, so nothing really light weight. im not too concerned with weight right now. |

The link above has a 1/9 |

ok, i see it, thats the one im looking for! thanks for your help! |
| 1/7 is of zero detriment to 55 grain bullets no matter how you slice it. You can shoot down to at least 35 grain bullets out of a 1/7 twist barrel with accuracy. It all boils down to how good or bad the company that made the projectiles actually made them and keeping velocity under roughly mach 4. I really don't see the 1/9 as anything more than a limiting factor on bullet selection but if your only shooting bulk 55 it doesn't really matter either way. 1/8 is a good happy medium that will do it all as well. |

I my research I found out the same info as nateebobo. 1/7 is best overall twist rate as it will stabilize a wider range of grain bullets. |
| Take a look at this Green Mountain barrel before you buy, great quality and profile for the price, its a 1:8 twist. |
