| This has been answered numerous times I am sure but please forgive my ignorance. What is the benefit of a $70 tube kit over a $20 one. Is it the spring, the tube or the buffer or are they just the same since they are mil spec anyway ?? I know some will say brand X,Y or z but what is the real benefit of the more expensive one. |
| 7075 aluminum alloy has almost twice the yield strength of 6061. And more than likely a better spring. And sometime the buffer will actually be aluminum instead of plastic etc etc. Cheaper ones will work, but not battle ready. I do not know your needs so I make no comment on what to buy. |

Vltor A5 system is a mid length system. Id go that route if it was in the budget. |

The Vltor A5 system uses a tube that is longer than the standard carbine tube. It also uses a longer buffer, and spring. The tube is a 7 or 6 position depending on which A5 tube you get.. It allows you to extend your stock out a little longer than the fixed rifle stock. It also helps dampen recoil / muzzle rise. In this video he compares the 7&6 position A5 tube to a standard 6 position carbine tube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UnrVJT4UU10 The 6&7 A's look to have the same length when fully extended but the 7 position has the first hole closer to the threaded end. I run a regular Vltor Imod stock on a 7 position A5 tube and it only collapse down to position 2, which by the video would appear to be position 1 on the 6 position A5 tube. Here is some more info about the A5 system. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5vg8n3ghlBo |

Yea I am aware of all that, you used a term relating to gas system length that was very confusing. I don't own the Vltor A5, I have read about it on a few sites. I know the size, and know you can get like 5 different buffer weights with it, it has a rifle length spring, but I have never seen or heard of it called a midlength. Maybe I am sheltered and if so cool. I was just commenting that using the terms interchangebly is a bit confusing. No crime, just curious. Yea sorry I was just referring to the fact that is shorter than a rifle extension, but longer than a carbine extension. |
