I am new to the site but not new to guns. I've been reading this forum for a while and there seem to be a lot of good people here with a lot of knowledge. Just kinda wanted to say hello to you all first.
While I'm very familiar with ARs this is my first complete from scratch build. I scored a great price on a few Aero Precision stripped uppers and lowers a year or so ago so they've all been sitting in the safe waiting to be built. For the rifle i am currently building, I am doing a mid length gas system on a 16" BCM SS410 barrel. Bolt carrier group is going to be Nickel Boron (still trying to decide on manufacturer). Low profile gas block with a Spikes SAR3 13.2" rail. Optic is going to be a vortex viper pst 1-4x24. FYI I have been a big LMT guy for most of my life and I have a LMT setup with an Eotech so that's why on this rifle I want some magnification.
Trigger is an ALG ACT, I've pulled a lot of these before and they are a lot better feeling than a standard mil spec trigger but cheaper than a Geissele. I'm a very particular person when it comes to my guns and especially since I am building this one from the ground up I want it to not only function well but I want it to be a good looking rifle too. Both receivers are black and the rail will be black, however all the furniture will be FDE.
     So I have two questions.
What are your experiences with b5 Sopmods and Vltor imods. I have always used LMT Sopmods (because they came on my rifles) but I cannot see paying that much for a stock when you have the other options I just listed.
In your experience how does the FDE on the two stocks listed above match Magpul FDE? I am already aware that LMT FDE is a lot darker than Magpul.  Thanks in advance for any input, pictures of the rifle will be uploaded as build progresses.

No experience with the sopmod, but imods are great and the VLTOR fde is pretty darn close to magpul if not a perfect match.

Wmd guns Is my choice for nibx bcg's and they're on sale at primary arms.

Welcome to arf.
