I recently completed most of a 6.5 Grendel rifle. I say most because I have yet to finish the barrel and pick up an optic for it. But I have made an unfortunate discovery. The Anderson manufacturing slick side upper I got for it seems to be out of spec. Everything else works flawlessly but it looks like the upper has a little too much material for all but one of my metal magazines to fit properly. Some polymer magazines I have tried will fit, but I have never heard of a polymer 6.5 magazine. Though I would love to try one.
Any suggestions for a fix? I will hopefully be talking to a fellow with some gun smithing experience on Thursday and I think we will wind up stoning or filing the relevant areas down a smidgeon. |

They may have you send in the whole upper to troubleshoot the whole upper. It is worth a try. I've never used Anderson but I've heard good things. I would politely contact them and give them a chance to see what's the dealio!
Good Luck. PS was it a "blem" upper? It may just be a little sloppy anodizing in mag well. If you have not installed the barrel, nows the time to send it in. Why is it such a headache? FA and ejection door installed? I would Send the upper if it was mine |
