So about three weeks ago I bought a PSA kit. I'm ordering a lower tomorrow as the kit arrives Tuesday (I know it'll be a bit before it gets to the dealer) my question is, what tools and equipment will I need to build a lower? Any links to buy them would be appreciated but just general names and approx price is also appreciated |

Welcome to the addiction!
You can get by on pretty minimal amounts of tools. Some kind of small hammer - small rubber mallet even. Black electrical tape - will help to protect areas that you will be working around. Roll Pin Punches set - Any dealer you like, midwayusa, brownells, lowes even has these kits. You would be looking at like 20-30 bucks for an entire set http://www.brownells.com/gunsmith-tools-supplies/general-gunsmith-tools/punches/roll-pin-punches-prod38883.aspx Some kind of AR wrench/tool - This will help you get the castle nut tight. Price depends on what you want to spend. A Magpul wrench runs 60+ bucks, Tapco or RRA makes a good one for under 10 bucks. http://www.brownells.com/gunsmith-tools-supplies/rifle-tools/wrenches/index.htm Your local gun shop if they are AR friendly should have these tools for sale or if you are on good terms, they may even let you borrow them. A great guide is provided by this site actually. http://www.ar15.com/content/guides/assembly/lower/ |

Thanks lol its makin me stay up later every night lookin at this place. I was kinda resistant to getting a rifle cause I knew id want to get more than an AR...and that's exactly whats happening...i look around the site and its hey I want a .22 hey I want a lever gun (childhood fantasy) hey I want....and it keeps going and I'm a 18 yo senior in Hs who is about to go to tech school and can't afford more than an AR |
Well the PSA kit comes with an upper, whether im happy with it is another thing lol have some cheap iron sights (polymer ones off amazon) and the Magpul ctr with some pmag gen3 30rd mags. As far as an upper I wanna replace the carbine length rail thing with a rifle length quad rail with a foregrip and laser/light combo. Optics come later when I have some more expendable money lol I've wanted one for years so I pretty much know what I want and can finally bring it to life. I can not remember the appropriate term for a rail that's not a rail and its annoying the shit out of me
