I've got a Geissele MK2 13" rail for my SPR build. Eventually I'd like to put a can on it, and also plan to one day try my hand at 3-Gun. For these reasons putting an adjustable gas block on now seems like a good idea. My question is about being able to access the adjustment through the MK2 rail. On one hand there is the Syrac Ordnance gas block that adjusts upfront, which would totally solve all my worries about access to the screw. Another plus is the detent in the block that locks your clicks in place. Downside is the price, it's $106 which is the most expensive one I've found. Also, it only has 2 set screws. The JP, on the other hand, has 4 screws and is a clamp on model (which I hear can improve accuracy as it does not push into the barrel). The set screw is on the side with the JP, and may have trouble accessing the adjustment, plus there is no detent. Forgot to mention that this is a rifle length gas system, so I will be at the very end of the rail with the block. What say you more experienced folk? This will be a precision style rifle, 600'ish yards, but I still want to retain reliability in a SHTF scenario.
Thank you in advance. |

Govnah is great but if you're complaining about the cost of a Syrac...
I have a Syrac on my build and Syrac had great customer service. I asked for dimensions to try to fit a carbine gassed .936"+ barrel and an adjustable low profile gas block under a rifle length handguard. It works, it's simple, and any gas tube will work with it - just pin the gas tube with the roll pin, follow their instructions, and you're good to go. I love it, and it works. Solid and hasn't moved since I installed it. |
