I have a 13" rail on my rifle length build. It's the Vtac alpha. I like it, but it's barely too short to cover the gas block. I've had it like this for years, I'm just thinking of switching things up. I'm thinking of going a little shorter and adding a gas block/ front sight deal like the MK12.... or just getting a 14" - 15 rail to cover it. Any suggestions? I was thinking about a CMR14" in FDE but I dont want to go through the hassle of switching everything out, mostly bc I'm lazy and don't have the time.
Basically I'm looking for a good, light weight rail (this is a must) that will fit on a standard barrel nut if possible. barrel nut request isnt necessary, but it'd be nice here is an obligatory potato pic of said rifle.

Most of the newer high quality ligbtweight handguards (BCM, Noveske, Seekins, Knights, etc) all have proprietary barrel nuts. The downside is installation. The upside is more secure installation of the handguard.
As far as ling or short, I like having as much handguard as possible. That's just my opinion though. |

They are nice and light. I suppose I could go that route again, but I also dont necessarily want a 3rd keymod rifle that's almost identical to the others. But I could go BCM keymod and have the trifecta. |

The 556 Tactical KEY MOD Evolution Series uses the standard AR Barrel nut.
