My first build and first AR...

I have been a lurker for quite awhile, but with some prompting from the local gun shop owner, I decide to build versus buy. Glad he talked me into it and pointed me to this site. I think that I am hooked and want to look into building a .300 Blackout upper...maybe in the coming year.

Ran into an early issue with the David Tubbs flat spring causing short stroking. I replaced it with a Mil-Spec and problem solved. Following that, it has eaten everything that I have given it...mixed brands of both .223 and 5.56. I had read some of the Wylde chamber horror stories, but decided to go with it anyway. Happy with my decision. Sub MOA groups at 50 yards without magnification. Followed barrel break-in suggestions of 1 shot clean, 1 shot clean, 2 shots clean, etc. Just over the 100 round mark.

Thanks flyby1971!

Backbencher, I zeroed at 50 yards figuring it gives me the most versatility.  Not a long range setup, but the setup offers slightly low hits at 25 yards and slightly high hits out to 200 without ever worrying about POA.

Am I thinking correctly...thoughts?

I had the Magpul ASAP end plate for a while also, but didn't like how it was always clanking around when a sling was not attached. I eventually ended up going with a Noveske QD end plate.

Great looking AR.

Thanks async!  I am on the fence about the ASAP.  Like the options, but agree...the noise is irritating.  They could have possibly coated it to eliminate the rattle.  I plan to attach the Magpul MS3 with a rail attachment as well.  Single point with the option of two point for alternative carrying.  Haven't decided on which though.  I would like to do a QD to standard loop making it quickly removable.
