Anyone offer any first hand experience on the fit and finish of the new billet offerings from NFA?  Had some NFA polymer lowers before and was completely disappointed with the specs with all of them.  I had 3 and there were issues with LPK's fitting.  All of them had the firing pin holes too small, and the slot for the mag catch was too tight on one end but had a big gap on the other end.

Are the billet offerings better.

I will likely be having them cerekoted so the anodizing finish is not necessarily a big deal, more interested in the smoothness of the milling marks etc.

Thanks

Chris

Maybe a mistype and he meant trigger pin holes too small? I have heard that about several polymer lowers. No experience with NFA billet sets, myself.

If you are worried about fit and finish go with a brand that is known for quality billet sets. Mega.

i have a new frontier armory forged lower and it went together nice with a delton upper. there is no play or no light shinning through. i can't say that will be the case with the billet though. good luck

Aren't these billets  the same as JoeBob's Spartan Upper/Lower combo ?

Yes, that was a type...  Trigger pin holes...  Even the pivot pin and takedown pin holes were small...

And yes, after a little research the Spartan lowers from.Joe Bob's are made by NFA for them.

The price seems very reasonable and so far my contact emails with them have been answered quickly (within a couple hours), and have been pleasant and enthusiastic about trying to earn my business.   Just a little apprehensive due to personal experience with their polymer lowers.

But for Around $250 for a custom logo, caliber markings, serial number, safe/fire markings,  AND custom engraving on the upper as well, its kinda hard not to give it a try.

Thanks and if anyone else has first hand experience with them please let me.know.

If you like their styling & the value then don't be shy, get a set. I'm bulidng a NFA lower/upper combo myself. I'm using and 80 lower so that would cause some differences...

As for the LPK issues with with the NFA poly; NFA used some non mil-spec components in their lowers. They disclosed this information freely & openly. As such they stated that modifications would be required to use certain mil-spec components. The snugness to the uppers I experienced as well. Molding is a very hard mechanical venture in creation... Some minor machining was needed on a few I laid my hands on. This fact should in no way detract from the decision to purchase a billet offering from NFA, IMO

Thanks for helping clearify this gtfoxy, and yes, you're right on all accounts.  When we sold the polymer lowers for a short time to help curb demand when we couldn't keep up with the complete lowers, we clearly stated on our website and to all of our distributors and dealers that the LW-15 stripped lowers were designed to fit with our polymer lower parts kit which can be purchased on our new website (shameless plug - CLICK HERE).  MILSPEC metal LPK's will also fit, but as we stated, with some minor fittment.  Depending on the kit you use, some holes would need reaming, the mag catch slot filed out a bit, and the pivot and takedown detent/spring cavity reamed out a hair.  These are all things we do during the build process to ensure the complete lowers leave here with all parts functioning freely.

Problem was, our dealers didn't relay this information clearly and properly in all cases, thus the miscommunication out there that "parts don't fit".  We have since stopped selling them as stripped units for this reason.

As for the billet sets, we are biased, but we think they are a very good product for the money.  They have many features that rival some of the nicest billet lowers on the market with half the price tag.  We are currently backordered on the standard uppers, but we have the C-4 billet lowers in stock pretty steady now, as well as the matching non-reciprocating side charger.  Once we are caught up with the standard upper backorders and have a decent supply flowing into the warehouse and store, we will release a matching slick side as well as an ambi recip side charger by years end.

Hopefully this helped clear the air a little bit with the issues you were having with the LW-15 lowers.  I hope you better understand how they were sold with that disclaimer now and you don't let it tarnish your thoughts of our billet products.

Guido1, Thanks for the reply.  Glad to hear that directly from the manufacture.  Really made sense and cleared up any issues/hesitation/reservations I had about ordering from you just went away and I will be calling on monday and getting these in the works.

It also helped that a friend of mine is a Class 7 FFL that is working on his own line of AR15's and when I asked him, he informed me that he JUST placed and odrer variance with NFA to get the billets sets.

Keep up the good work, and can't wait to get my parts ordered and check them out for myself.

Thanks
