I am building my first AR.
Today I bought and assembled a Cmmg blem Mk4 lower and Cmmg lower parts kit.
I added a Tapco mil spec buffer tube
I also order a BCM blem upper
I live in the same city at MidwayUSA so I'm ordering a Magpul MOE stock, AFG2 (stealth gray), MOE trigger guard, and a BCM large charging handle. I can pick my order up and save on shipping.
I'm wanting to do a free float and I'm looking at the AT3 14.5" pro series quad rail, but I'm not fully set on that yet.
Going with a spikes BCG from aim surplus.

My main thing I'm looking for suggestions on is the barrel. I want to get a good barrel obviously but still trying to make this somewhat of a budget build. I want to go 16" so I don't have to deal with pinning.

Here's what I've got done so far, not impressive but I'm excited and already thinking about my next build.

Not sure what your budget is, but this one seems to have a good reputation for accuracy and it comes with a free upper.

Have you looked into Rainier arms barrels?

Joe Bob Outfitters has their brand for about $150 (16"). I believe Midway USA has AR Stoner barrels between $120-150. Brownell's has DPMS barrels between $179-189. If you have about $270-300 to spend on a barrel look into BCM, Daniel Defense, Rainier Arms, or Spikes Tactical.

I'm sorry to report first hand that that Tapco buffer tube is a flaming POS. I use mine now for Duracoating lowers, to hang them. Get a BCM. I stopped buying anything Tapco because of that damned thing, the inside is a like a scabby vagina.
