Hi, im working on my first build (wouldn't have been able to do it without this forum) and i need some help finding a handgaurd.  I originally was going to go with a magpul handgaurd with a railed gas block and flip up sight, but i like the look of the free float a lot better and this way i can use a more inexpensive sight like magpuls buis.  I am looking for a very simple handgaurd, probably just the top rail, and sadly i dont have room in my budget for anything over 150 (preferably 100ish).   I have a 16 inch barrel with a midlength gas system so i geuss it should be about 11 or 12 inches.  Also I would greatly prefer for it to come in FDE because thats what my other furniture is, but not a deal breaker.  Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I'm a big YHM fan. Here's an Ebay deal you may want to look at. They are legit YHM handguard (blems) that have one hole drilled in the wrong place. I actually purchased one just for the barrel nut; it's the real deal and the price is outstanding.

i just purchased a 13 inch UTG Pro FF Rail for 114$ shipped. from what i can tell it seems solid and the install was very easy. i chose this rail since i was on a budget and didnt want to spend 200$+ on a rail. it has received  good reviews on AR15.com and i would not hesitate to purchase another for a future build.

+1. In your price range, I would suggest the UTG.

The Rainier Samson rail is great too and if you already have the barrel installed, it will make it easier since it uses the stock barrel nut whereas the UTG has a proprietary nut.

+1 on the UTG. I have a 9" on a 16" middy. Waiting on the 13" to be released in FDE.

2 others to look at are YHM and Nordic components.

Not sure if the YHM has a value rail with detatchable rails.

Nordic NC-1 are 89.00-99.00 but come without any rails.

My 2 cents

EDIT: Misread your origional post OP. If you need FDE, the UTG in 13" is being released sometime this summer. Im also waiting on that perticular one.

Not sure about variety of colors (DIY paint job might be required) but Yankee Hill, Samson Evo, Nordic, UTG Pro, and maybe Midwest Industries (only maybe because I'm not sure about the price range of their basic free floats).

Look at the ALG FF Handrails.  They are very affordable and the quality is quite good.

Check out the Diamondhead VRS-T.  I just finished my 16" mid length build and love it.  I found one for $150.  I installed the 10.25".

UTG Pro Super Slim 15"
Here is the 15" UTG Pro Super Slim Hand Guard.

I have a 9" that I picked up used, and I am going to order the 15", now.
It is nice. Everyone that I've shown it to, has liked it as well.
