| I am very new to the AR-15 but have decided I would like to build one. A local gun store has an Anderson Mfg. Stripped Lower for $55. Is this a decent enough lower? I have a CMMG AR right now, and am pretty sure their receivers are manufactured by Anderson. I am just looking for a second opinion. Also, any suggestions on where to go with the build would be appreciated. I am planning on building this rifle for hunting. |
| The lower is fine and that is not a bad price for a LGS. For the most part, a lower is a lower. As far as where to go with the build, you will get many different opinions but only you know what your wants/needs are. If you already have an ar15 you should have a feel for things you like/don't like. What are you wanting to hunt? What caliber are you going with? |
| They're made in my hometown, for the 50 dollar range they're definitely a good buy. I have a rifle built on one of their lowers and am currently building a pistol. While I abhor their complete rifles, their parts are usually reasonably priced and I use them since they're always in stock at LGS in my area. |

I am going to be hunting deer and I am planning on 5.56. I hunt close range >100yds. So I think the 5.56 with a soft point will be adequate. Anderson is pretty close to my house. So i like the idea of using them as my base.
If anyone is interested in the lower it is at ky gun co. |
| I built a couple of their lowers. No issues with fit or finish. I've only been able to use them a few times, but so far so good. When I can get Anderson uppers and lowers for less than $100 it's hard to beat. You can usually get an Anderson Blem upper for $41 plus shipping from Copes. At one point they had them for $35. |

^ How is that magpul grip? I have a hogue beavertail on my other AR and its good but I am interested in trying othe parts. It's Magpul K2. It's the ONLY grip I'll use. I'm used to more vertical AK grips for a squared up shooting stance, and this grip fits my hand PERFECT for that (as does UC23, but the K2 has storage as well). If you shoot squared up with elbow tucked in (not chicken wing), try one, you'll love it an never go back. An A2 was designed for a bladed shooting stance and is horrendous on your wrist for tucked in shooting (unless you chicken wing it), you'll love the way the K2 relaxes your wrist. |

As far as fit, mine are so tight, I can lift both together by the upper and the lower will stay on through the friction at the rear take down, although it will sag a bit at the front. |
