So I ordered my AR lower last week (should be at my FFL soon) and I need to start looking for an upper. But I don't know where to start. Should I buy a complete upper or should I build one?

I know I want to shoot both 5.56 and .223. I would like to have a 16" barrel with a 1/7 twist. And while not essential, I would like to have a rail that I can mount a few things on (bipod, grip, light, ect)

Any suggestions on either a complete upper or an upper you build yourself?

Here is my lower.

Just wondering why do people build AR with registered lower instead of buying a complete gun unless you live in California.

BTW: I love my Daniel Defense M4 V7 upper.

I have a complete daniel defense m4 v5 which I love and I'm sure you would love as well, the upper itself would definitely be a quality piece you can't really go wrong with at all.
