nice looking stick man. Thanks for having the good sense to smile to yourself about the sights being on backwards some people take it real personal :). Let us know how she shoots.

Curious as to why pointing to a good deal is a bad idea, but edited anyways...

I hope the pic shows up and that I am in the right spot. Excuse the length, I'm a proud papa. This was a Colt Sporter Match HBAR 20" rifle to start. I built because I was looking to trade for some value on a newer Colt carbine. I thought I wanted a carbine.  I was offered $280 cash and $400 for trade value.  "Eat ass," I thought to myself with very little emotion and I decided to build.  I bought a torque wrench, breaker bar, armorers tool, vise block set, and went to ordering parts.  I wanted military or similar parts.  I looked into barrels, but in the end, could not part with my HBAR and I wanted to keep her simple.  I still wanted a rifle.  I live in Nevada and I'm from Montana.  My other rifle is an M1 Garand.  I added the KAC A5 Seconds, KAC Micro 600m rear, EOTECH 512, Specter Sling, and a 0.040" front sight post to zero things out.  My next purchase is going to be Vltor A5 stock kit.  The weight of that stock may balance the HBAR out. More than likely, I will use that money to buy more back-up parts and stick with the stock I have. I swapped out the Colt A2 upper for a Colt flat-top upper with M4 cuts.  I attached it using an Offset Pivot pin I purchased from Numrich (spelling?) and extras from Midway USA.  This was necessary since my lower's pivot pin diameter didn't mesh perfectly with the M4 upper.  Since the supplies of pins were were low, I now have 3 of them in reserve.  I have had zero problems with the dreaded M4 cuts on my rifle extension.  HP, SP, and Ball, all shoot with no problems.   I followed the simple advice on the huge discussions regarding this issue out there.  Typically, that simple guy said, "M4 cuts were made for full-auto on carbine length gas systems.  Test first and do not worry."  I also assumed that Colt on Colt may be a benefit.  The only problem I have is with steel cased Russian and Chinese crap (it has never ejected correctly).  I'm a small guy, she is heavy, she shoots straight, and I love her.  I'm not completely sure the total cost.  I have had to build her since Christmas.  I'm a school teacher, stay at home wife, and 4 kids.  It can be done!!

I would limit the time you spend exposing those threads as well......you need a muzzle device or thread protector asap!

Took it out to shoot today. Put 40 rounds through with no jams. I'm surprised at how low the recoil is. I'm also surprised at how loud it is. I use froglube and had no issues with that. The cleanup was okay, I would like to have a brass scraper or brass brush.
