| I'm getting ready to do my first lower build and need to buy a set of punches Who makes a good quality set and are there any other special tools that I should have? Thanks. |

As well as the roll pin punches mentioned, these Starrett punches are a good set

I seen these yesterday at cabelas. If they would of had it when I put my lower together I would have gotten it. |

Brownells has a nice roll pin starter set. I have never needed them and use a Craftsman pin punch and add masking tape to hold the pin on the tip.
Few other places carry the pin starter, but now I see amazon has a set. Put this in your amazon search: Ultimate Arms Gear AR15 AR-15 M4 M16 Gun Rifle 4pc Gunsmithing Armorer Steel Roll Pin Starters Pin Punch Tool Set Kit Pin punches tend to have flat tips. Some roll pin punches just have a dimple on the tip. Good pin starters are hollow and hold the pin much better. |
