Gents,

I send my CMP match rifle upper to Compass Lake to have a new Krieger put on.  The upper was a stock RRA NM A2 upper.  I asked for the old barrel back, because I have a spare A2 upper and the rest of the parts to put it back together.  The gun wasn't shooting "bad" when I sent it off, but it was starting to open up at 600 yards, so it was time for a new barrel for match duty.

Anyways...  I got the old barrel and FSB back, but no taper pins.  I bought 2 new taper pins and they don't fit at all.  I've always had them at least start into the hole, and then get hard to finish.

Any chance RRA uses smaller than spec taper pins?  Any reason I shouldn't just drive these ones in?  I don't want to risk cracking the FSB or barrel.  (BTW, I do know which side they go in from, so its not that...)

I've assembled a lot of AR's and this is the first time I've ever run into this particular situation.

Thanks,

Matt

Im going to make a SWAG here, but the pins might take a "Set" when installed with the fixture that is used in actual manufacturing?

I think Rock River uses straight pins, not tapered pins. -W

Try to use straight pins. they usually work well and stay in place without any problem.
