I have decided to build my own lower Yeah Me!  Seekings forged and CMMG LPK. But I want a accurate upper I really don't want to go over $1000.00 Unless significant accuracy is gained. I looked at the Todd Jarrett YMH uppers but they are $1200.00 bucks so can you guys recommend a solid upper for me its going to be a back yard precision shooter / plinker.  Not fond of Stainless Steel Barrels.
YHM
White Oak Arm
Les Baer  probably can't afford
Daniel Defense
Noveske
LMT
Rainier Arms

Kinda Wish Seekins Precision made a complete Upper.
I know I can change it but I do like the smooth hand guard with the three short bolt on rails. I would prefer a billet upper also.
Thanks In advance!

I don't see BCM on your list.  They are worth a look.

Also PSA Premium uppers would be another choice

I call pete at Legal Transfers and tell him either what i am looking for or just order a factory Stag from him. est advice he ever gave me was buy a 3G as opposed to the Varmint upper.

Build your own and you can get exactly what you want and save money.

Given what you want my vote is build your own.

Third same answer in a row. I don't buy complete uppers. I build just what I want.
But I do like Krieger Stainless Barrels. But that would blow your ballpark price range.

It also depends on what you are planning to do with the rifle.

+1 for building your own. I did it as a first timer - very rewarding

My vote is go cheap on your first... shoot it a while, figure out exactly what you want, then do it right when you do it again. Doing it right the first time can be a gamble if you find out you want something different.

I am switching most of my new builds to either 1-8 or 9 twist.

For this reason its a lot easier to buy and build. Rainier has some good barrels.

PSA just had their Ptacs again with free shipping for 290.   I with stood the temptation this time.

Well I was hoping to avoid building the first one I already wonder if the lower will work correctly then I wonder what buffer tube and spring to use on the adjustable magpul stock it comes in commercial and mil spec.
The problem for me building an upper is to many choices. what bolt carrier gas tube and block what barrel what charging handle I know the Upper and hand guard I like  but then can i put it all together and will it work ?

I went through the exact same thing as a first timer. I decided to build my own because I wanted to do it once and get exactly what I wanted. I am Mr. Anal when it comes to quality and workmanship (maybe because I'm an auto mechanic or maybe I just am LOL). Either way I had a hard time deciding which hand guard I wanted and the biggest reason was I didn't like the way most of them were mounted. I ended up with a Seekins BAR. That thing looks great and is rock solid without the cost of a Giessele. Same with the charging handle - I didn't like the latch on the BCM Gunfighter so I spent a bit more on the Rainier Raptor ambi one. Looks and function is second to none IMO. I probably spent 50 or more hours on this forum, just reading - no questions, before I bought one part. I believe the research paid off. The only thing I wish I did differently is the pistol grip. I bought a Magpul MOE and it is plastic and feels cheap in your hand. I will most likely get the MOE+ just for the rubber feel/comfort. If that's the only thing I regret I feel extremely lucky.

+1 for "it will work"!!!!!  I'm a complete newbie and mine worked perfectly. And if it doesn't, someone here will help you get it running in no time.

So here is what I picked out tell me what you think of my choices, also i am not sure what small bits and pieces I am forgetting.

Fore Arm: I like the troy industries smooth  but not sure which one to get. YHM and DD are fine as long as they are not full length quad rails.
Gas Tube No clue which one will fit or work
What parts am I forgetting?
any special tools I need to get ?
Is the BCG to much for the barrel meaning match BCG but not a match barrel?

FINALLY THANK YOU for taking the time to read this and possibly answering my questions!
