Anyone have experience with the Wheeler Engineering AR combo tool with the torque wrench?  Saw one at Bass Pro looks ok but how does one hold up in actual use?

I have the set that comes with those two and I have assembled around 12 or so rifles with it with no problems.

Their AR upper vise block is a nice piece and reasonably priced. I do not have any experience with the tiorque wrench.

I'm not impressed with Wheeler's barrel nut wrench.  I have a DPMS combo tool:

My armorer instructor had a number of the Tapco tools, which he said he was surprised with: they seemed to hold up well:

I suggest basically any tool that doesn't depend on 3 pins for nut engagement, the way the GI tool does.  Spike's tool has 7 pins and engages a whole lot of teeth on a barrel nut - this seems to be one key to maintaining grip on the nut without chewing it up:

And wherever you get instructions on using whichever wrench you decide on, remember that it goes IN-LINE WITH THE TORQUE WRENCH, not at an angle.  While the difference in torque you measure will be very small with the right-angle approach, all of these wrenches are designed to mimic the GI wrench in terms of location of the 1/2" drive hole in relation to the teeth, and the torque spec is stated with the GI wrench in-line with the torque wrench.
