I have been looking at barrels and researching for a couple of weeks now. I was looking at mid length 16" barrels but found a brand new FN carbine barrel for $180 shipped with a staked fsb, barrel nut. From what I find, this is a he'll of a price for a FN. Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't they all cold hammer forged?
Should I jump on this? My goal for my build is a quality plinker/shtf gun. Would this fit the bill? The only other barrel I have found with can and under $200 with good reviews is a del ton. |

Get the carbine barrel. I'd go with M4 profile over HBAR. I fucking hate the M4 profile. It's a result of shit compromises, poor planning, and sub optimizations. People want it because that's what the military has, but they don't know the trail of duct tape that led to this shit profile. |
