I've built several Ar15 and never run into the issue that I did this week.  I've always used CMMG or Palmetto brand trigger but ordered a couple rifle kits from Palmetto with Ptac parts.  I did not expect much performance from these PTAC's. I knew going in that the sear surfaces on the ptac triggers were rough to say the least but after quick polish they looked and felt great.  My issue is with the interference between the hammer and the disconnector.  When the hammer is cocked back and you pull the trigger, the point of the disconnector moves forward and hits the point of the hammer.  With my CMMG And regular Palmetto triggers this does not happen.  I was working with two billet 80 receivers this week and though maybe the trigger pin holes were off but I installed both trigger groups into both a JD machine lower and a dare I say a Poly lower I had kicking around with the same results. When you pull the trigger you can feel it hit and then have to push past.  I'm not looking for people to say that the PTAC stuff is crap.  I ended up throwing two CMMG triggers into these guns.  Not having dealt with this issue in the past, I just want to make sure that the action of these triggers is  right or wrong.  I was going to throw one into a 22 build with the poly lower.  If they are not correct I'll get with Palmetto to make it right.  Thanks for the help guys.

Here's the PTAC right before pulling the trigger.  You can see where its going to hit as soon as you start to pull the trigger.

Here's a Palmetto in a different receiver.  The PTAC looked the same in this receiver when I tried it as well.

Any thoughts?

Not normal.  The disconnector should not impact the hammer before the hammer

That's an odd looking disconnector.  Can you remove it and take a better pic?

The defect could actually be the disconnector, trigger, or hammer.  If the hammer is held too low by the trigger/hammer sear engagements, this can happen.  Nothing can be adjusted, however, the parts should be replaced.

Cheap parts are cheap.

Thanks Falarak.  I'll email Palmetto and see if they have had any issues with them.  Like I said, I was worried that the holding fixture/drill jig I machined for my 80%lowers was off, but the same issue is in the Aero lower as well. Here's a picture of the second ptac trigger I have.  It has the same issue.  Ignore the fact that the disconnector spring isn't installed.  They shorted me the spring and take down pins in one kit.

I'd start with a disconnector swap and see what happens.

If the engagement surfaces or hole position is a tiny bit out of spec, this can happen.

I'll play with it again tonight and start mixing parts...after I mark them.  Good idea.

Already noticed this but noticed something else also. The disconnector is made different than others I have. The upper arm that catches the rear of the hammer if the trigger is held during cocking is longer and at a more upward angle. Also in the lowers I tried my set in when you cock the hammer with out holding the trigger it still has to push the disconnector out of the way before the trigger pops up into the hammers trigger  notch and moves the disconnector rearward away from the hammer. On all the other lower parts sets I tried on cocking the trigger rises into its notch in the hammer allowing the disconnectors arm to move out of the way of the rear hammer and never makes contact with the hammer.
Best I could tell it was the difference in the way the hammer and disconnector were made because I could but the trigger in lowers with other part sets it it function like the one I replaced it with.
The set did functioned just differently than others I have.

I order a few spare normal priced disconnectors also in an order and got two of those style disconnectors. I put them aside so as not to mix them with the other disconnectors I have.

I got those style parts in the 29.99 Blackhawk kit. I bought the kit just to check it out so the rest of the parts were worth the kit price.
