It's versatile, the optics will probably change 3-4 times just finding what I like (next is the smart scope), I like the ambidextrous nature of it - just used to it with handguns and it feels weird not having it.  Took a stab at the sling and mount, and I went overkill on the bi-pod because I loves me a nice bi-pod.  Now...anyone in the Kansas City Kansas/MO area with some land

Critique it - it was my first AR

Well, Merry Christmas to OP.  Hope you get a potato in your stocking next week & can post some pics.  Very nice build.

RRA is good to go, but I've never liked the looks of their complete rifles. I think you spent a little too much on a non-free floated, 1 in 9 rifle with ambi controls. But if you're happy that's all that matters! Welcome

Most of It is Still cased behind the couch in my basement or locked in different cases/range bag etc...  I might get papers filing for divorce

If I wanted too I'm sure I could be patient and make money on it - complete- for what I got some of this for.

I was reading one of the threads on the free floating rails vs. say, the two-piece here.  I understand most of the ideas and I have two questions as too how much of a difference it will really make:

1.) With a bi-pod, or if not using that I'm looking at something like the Stark SE5 handgrip - (with the single point sling mount and sling not being an issue of cranking on the rail) and this is no match rifle - would you still hold that bias that high for everything else it is?

2.) Why is the 100 yd measuring stick used as something more than your starting point for sighting in the rifle?  The thread on the free floats vs "fixed" seemed to say 100 yards was about as "regularly" accurate as you're going to get?!?!  Seriously?  I can do that 75%ish with my .45 and iron sights on a 4" barrel - and that round drops a hell of a lot faster.  So what am I missing here?  When the pissing match about barrel length and distance vs FPS started I stopped reading.

I have noticed a difference.  If you're not trying to shoot long range, or you're just doing reflexive fire or plinking non free-float is fine.  Honestly though, there are so many kickass FF handguards, and a lot of them don't cost much more than a non free float setup (and what's 50-75 more on a 1500-2000+ rifle anyway?).  Annnd, it's easier.

I only have one non-FF AR anymore.. And I'll probably never have another.

if you want a traditional look, non free float look and still have it, you can use a secret weapon

i have one of these on my match rifle. Its a bit of a sleeper. looks like a bare bones A2, but has a good bit under the hood

I like the idea of the free float just because the two piece is such a bastard to get in and out, off and on - maybe it just needs worked in good.  Got a couple toys today, couple tomorrow, couple Friday, pics soon...

It's complete minus the Fail-zero BCG and Hammer that should hopefully be here this week and the Ergo Grip Ladder LowPro Rail Covers 18 Slot.    (Complete does not equal finish - really contemplating that free floating tube and I'd almost like it a bit longer, and I'd like to get that Tac-Con trigger before they say no to it but that's not priority, next buy will probably be more options for optics to switch out.)

Any thoughts or input on this?-  Haven't committed to a light or laser or anything of that nature yet but I don't want to lose the quad rail, however I have seen the quad rails that just have the Picatinny rails on the forward end and not full length.  And of course I found the $400 light weight Daniel Defense purrrty looking one.  I could use some insight here.

So the gun:  The floor plan was the RRA Delta Mid-length package without the pieces I didn't need:

Looks nice, is the quad rail just a drop in or is it free floating?  It still has the delta ring so I was just curious.  I don't think it will hold zero on the front sight if it's not free floated.

Still the drop in.  I posted above with the pics my thoughts/need for help on picking the free floating and what I had looked at/thought about in regards to it.  Something that will work with the factory holes and it shouldn't be a big issue with the low profile gas block - from what I've read.

Shouldn't the magnifier flip to the other side? Unless you're left-handed, it's going to block your field of view.

I didn't really want to see it getting hit with brass flipped to the right.  Especially if (more like when) I sneak into one of the Tac Con 3MR Triggers.  Not that I care/need/want to afford anything past semi-auto.  They labeled it as not class III so I want one before they change the rules, or before some fucking congressmen goes and signs some shit with NATO again.  But now we are WAYYYY off track.

Edit: and no, it doesn't block my field of view, and, I've been learning to shoot a rifle left handed - funny thing with the vision, with my peripheral vision, I see the red dot better using it left handed and seeing it with my eye not in front of it than I do shooting it right handed.  Didn't notice that until I started talking to Marsh from Primary Arms about an issue I'm having and a friend who's more tactically trained than I.

?  Where do you think the Army mounts their IR lasers?  The standard M4 doesn't have a free-float rail.

I got my Fail Zero BCG today, YAY!

The hammer says it is for a single stage trigger onry and not to use it for a two stage trigger $%^&*&^%$]

Thinking about it though - I haven't used a single stage in an AR and with rapid target switching a 2 stage isn't really useful.  Could a person just switch the hammer and make it a single stage? - sorry quick post I bet this has been answered and I don't have time to look (or install /cry).
