After sticking with AKs for all these years, I've decided to venture into the world of ARs.  I did quite a bit of research, but couldn't turn up too much information on Anderson Manufacturing other than:

1. The owners were shills at some point
2. They manufacture forgings for other companies (Colt?)
3. They're really cheap

If I'm only concerned with buying a quality lower (no care for cool roll marks), are these a decent option?  The fact that the owners did a bit of "disguised self promotion" is a little concerning, but if they make a quality product, then I can get over that (no, I'm not affiliated with the company, and my many ignorant questions here on Arfcom over the last few years should be sufficient proof of that).

For $60/pop, would I be going wrong?  I realize that in relative terms a Spikes lower may only be another $40, but I'm trying to stay in the truly "budget" arena.

I have one of their lowers on the way from PSA, from my readings their quality is good to go, just some gripes about the shilling you mentioned and some dislike the horse logo (could be said for any logo really, opinion based).

I have one with around 1000 rounds through it.
a lower, is a lower, is a lower, as long as its not polymer...
what I am getting at is I have had no issues with it. For 60$, you can't really go wrong.

ETA: unless your going for a light weight build, or a retro build.
Anderson is as good as anyone else.

Their lowers are outstanding. They look very nice and dont require any fitting. As stated above, a lower is a lower. Dont get caught up on brand names when it comes to lowers. As long as it is 7075 and in spec you're good to go.

I've used 5 Anderson lowers on builds and they all built and performed perfect. Although the finish is very nice the ONLY issue I would say is that the finish does have some shine. Most uppers I've used you really don't notice a difference, but if you get a upper that has a really flat finish, it's noticeable.

I wiped down the lower with solvent and the upper with some oil and well as wiped with a silicone rag the got the finishes looking better, but you can still tell if your picky.

Just finished my second build using an Anderson lower.  No complaints with either.

Awesome - Thanks for the quick replies everyone.  I'll be back in a month or two with my first build!

I believe they also forge Spikes

And I know they do the forgings for my local shop/manufacturer.

Mine have been great.

I have done three lower builds with Anderson lowers and have had no issues.

My local shop sales them for $85 OTD so that is hard to beat for me.

If anybody is in NKY, Triggers in Florence has AM lowers for $49.99, I just picked up a couple.
