Looking for a middy lw and followed a post in the barrel thread to Alpha Sports. Looked like a good deal until I noted this in their warranty and shipping info. "The risk of loss and title for all merchandise ordered on this Web site pass to you when the merchandise is delivered to the shipping carrier". Is this customary? When problems in shipping happened it in the past it was my experience that the shipper dealt with the sender not receiver. Kinda scared me off Alpha.

Until you take delivery it is theirs.

Agree, seller is responsible until received by the purchaser.

link?

ETA I'm leaning towards what Circuits writes below, but I'm curious about what the whole policy is.  A quick web search turned up a bunch of "alpha sports".

Their terms clearly stated their responsibility ends when they deliver it to the carrier.  It's extremely common - usually abbreviated as FOB for "freight on board", in the world of shipping in general.  Not as common with etailers, though, but if that's in their shipping terms, you're kinda bound by it.

Shop elsewhere in the future.

I did stop my purchase when I read that. Just didn't sound right.

FOB makes sense when the buyer arranges shipping, but when the seller is doing so (and "arranges shipping" means dropping it off at UPS/USPS?) that is a rather silly condition.

Last time I was involved in a missing package, UPS would not even talk to me since as far as they were concerned I was not their customer.

And why should they? You did not enter into an agreement with them, the seller/shipper did.

No argument from me -- just another point of contention with Alpha Sports' policy.

This ^.   Most shipping companies will only discuss a package with the payee...  That's why I will sometimes have the seller use my account number when shipping items.
