I've built a 300blk and used a low pro gasblock. This is my first time using one (usually shave the fsb) so i'm not sure of a few things. 1) How do I ensure its lined up perfectly with the gas port? 2) Do you just tighten up the set screws, locktite them or stake them? 3) Do I have to worry about them coming loose? This won't be a high round count rifle as I will be using it for hunting only. Thanks for the help and I hope I'm just over thinking this.

Rifle in question...

I typically line it up visually with the gas tube slid back into the upper, then slide the gas tube into the block.  Using the tube as a reference, I'll check alignment visually from front and rear.  I've also got a piece of metal stripping the width of the rails on an upper that I'll use as a reference to make sure everything's straight and aligned.

Absolutely use a threadlocker on the set screws.  I've never staked one myself.

ETA:  Nice looking build.

Ima shoot it first to check function then locktite it. Will red hold up to the heat or is there something stronger / better?

Thanks.

I've used red with no problems.  You'd have to be doing a hell of a lot of shooting to sustain the temperature required for the necessary duration to break loose high-temp Loctite.

If your barrel is dimpled, seating the set screw in the dimple should ensure that the port is lined up.  I always dimple barrels  if they're aren't already using the BRDE Engineering diimpling jig.  Still, the port on the gas block is usually pretty large and allows for quite a bit of mis-alignment before things stop working.  Visually aligning it should be fine though.

I always use rocksett -- not loctite.

I have not seen a properly installed set screw gas block ever come off.

Someone ships their gas blocks with Rocksett, though I can't remember who.

My barrel isn't dimpled but I do have a tube of Rocksett. Thanks for the replys.
