So I am shopping for a bcg for my next build (pistol) and weighing in on my options. I run a BCM on my carbine. I am completely happy with it, but I am wondering if there is another option that is either a) cheaper, or b) better. Right now I'm about 80% for buying another excellent bcg from fellow Wiscinsinites (BCM) at $190.
I was looking at FailZero, but I am not sure their fancy coating is worth the money compared to just lubing the damn rifle. I am also open to any really cheap options that are verified to not suck. thoughts? |

I've never had a problem with the Spikes BCG's.
AIM Has Them I've also used a few of the cheapies from PSA PSA PTAC's I would say the Spikes carrier is comparable to the BCM (my opinion as I am not an expert) , and it is cheaper. The PTAC's are all 8620 steel and not MPI tested , but it has a chrome lined carrier and the stake job isn't the greatest , but it's staked. I love the BCM BCG's and have a few of them , but there are cheaper options. Having said that I haven't had a Spike's or PTAC fail on me , but if the BCM is in stock that's what I buy. |

Have you used one of those? I honestly never thought to look there for a BCG. Going to have to try one. |

NiB is a good thing, but it's also overrated in my opinion, especially factoring in cost. In my experience, cleaning the BCG isn't noticeably easier with the NiB coating, and while it does improve the lubricity of the BCG, I can't see the added cost. That said, I'm very familiar with the BCGs that are available from Arfcom, and they're a good buy. Very high quality. |

heres a NiB-x for $129. mine looks great but i havent tried it yet.

A TWO DOLLAR BILL!!! |

IonBond is extremely corrosion-resistant. More so than the standard phosphate coating on a BCG. |

| Yes I understand that Parkerizing = Phosfate. As I said before, I didn't notice the finishes option the first time I looked at the page. It says "Everything but the coating is Mil-Spec." in the description. I assumed the finish was some kind cheap of plating like the other "deal" BCG's I have seen floating around at gunshows. |

Here's the one I've used in my builds:

I've got BCG's from BCM, Noveske, Spikes, Arfcom, WMD, and in the past various others. They are all of extremely high quality, but the ones I specifically listed are the ones I like most. With that said, the current $109 from DSG for a spikes is a steal. Likewise the Arfcom BCG is available quite often and is another steal. It even has a C158 BCG. Most people just don't look to see it's even offered, but it's every bit as high quality as the other big names.
Eta: The DSG price expired unfortunately and they are back up now. |

I'm scouring their site and not finding it. Thanks |

| A thread just come out earlier today under the new product threads. tr enabling, they have a nickel teflon coated bcg they just released 179$ (I think). Spikes tactical even put in his 2cents on this product, according to him the Teflon version is not as hard and will not take temperatures exceeding 600 degrees, which isn't a real issue, but spikes also followed up by saying even though it's not as tough as the nib it's still a very good product. |
