I have a Daniel Defense upper #10104, and I'm about to install a Smith Enterprises good iron muzzle break. The muzzle brake comes with a jam nut, which I screwed onto the upper for fit, and it didn't make it all the way, there was maybe a 1/16" left before becoming flush with the thick edge of the barrel. The muzzle brake was the same. I'll call Monday, but in the meantime, I'm wondering if anyone came across this too, and if it's normal. And is there a trick to getting the jam nut and muzzle brake clocked correctly or is backing it out until it's at 12 ok. (I lubed it with a litle aeroshell first and screwed it on and off a few times to work it in, but still didn't make it all the way.)

The jam nut tightens(jams) against the indexed muzzle brake.
So, yeah , there should be a space behind the jam nut.
