No, if you are going to upgrade anything get an a heavier buffer like the Spikes ST-T2

I run Tubb’s CS flatwire springs, the service life of these springs is longer than the weapon’s service life.

I run a slightly stronger spring in my mid lengths.  I use the 'enhanced' Sprinco blue along with a Spikes ST-T2 buffer.  I found that it works best for me.  What I noticed is that with a standard spring I was denting cases on the ejection port edge instead of hitting the shell deflector.  With the blue spring I hit the center of the deflector.

The Sprinco Blue and Spikes ST-T2 buffer are exactly what I've purchased and intent to use with my upcoming build.  Barrel is an 18in mid-length.  Haven't finished to build yet, but I am hoping for a nice soft and slow recoil.  Here in the State of Kalfornia I am not worried about any kind of rapid fire.

I have a Sprinco Blue and H2 buffer in a 14.5" mid barrel with a full auto BCG.  It's been running great.  I'm sure a standard spring would work fine as well.  The heavier spring is supposed improve feeding reliability.  It's a $20 spring, I'd say try it.  At least that was my attitude about it when picking out a spring.  If you don't like it, or if it doesn't work right, a standard spring is $5.  Then you'll know first hand whether it's worth it or not.  If you don't want to spend $20, then just get a standard spring.
