Hello all. New to the forum, new to ARs (except basic M16 training 30 years ago), and definitely new to build your own. I do have several handguns so not new to guns in general.
I have been thinking about entering the black rifle club for some time now and only recently started looking more seriously as supplies seemed to be getting back to normal. Was still debating buying a fully built mainstream product vs. build your own when along comes the Naval Yard incident. Well as soon as I heard (incorrectly reported) information that an AR-15 was used, I decided to get off the fence and buy a couple of stripped lowers. Came here and found the "in stock Lowers" thread which lead me to a couple in stock at Stoner Arms and went ahead and ordered them. One Spikes tactical Punisher and one Stoner Arms SAR-15. You could say that the gun-hating limey made me buy them. Feeling good about my purchase, I decided to look around and see what my options were for at least a lower parts kit to keep me busy. I ended up at PSA and while I looked around, noticed that there wasn't much available in the way of upper kits. I ran across a Full Kit in-stock with a Geissele SSA Trigger and decided I needed to go all the way. My questions for those much more experienced than I, 1. do I have with these two purchases the parts needed to complete a build? 2. If I tell you that I want to end up with a good (not best, just good value) quality rifle that I understand completely after I build it, did I short myself on either of these purchases? |

You got everything you need, except a BUIS rear sight and an optic.
I recommend the ARMS 40L rear sight. Primary Arms red dot is a good low cost start, if you do not want to get a more expensive optic. I would have bought the base kit for $499.00 because .223/5.56 cartridges are still very expensive and I do not shoot as often as I used to shoot. Inventory your stuff immediately. Palmetto occasionally forgets springs, pins, ect..... |

I went to a few of my local firearms dealers today looking for .22lr ammo and a scope. I saw several "panic" buyers of those evil black rifles. I hope this shit doesn't start up again. For goodness sakes people!! Prices are just now coming back down. Stop your non-sense!!! There are things I need, that I have waited on because they were all sold out or the prices were stupid crazy. Just stop it! |

I had a psa lbk it went together with my dpms stripped lower like butter , congrats and good luck on your build . I'm sorry but most likely you have been infected with the extremely contagious BGD(black gun diesease) lol ...not to worry it is not a bad thing .... Check out www.troyltd.com for some BUIS the tritium is awesome I prefer a fixed front to co-Wittness. My optics(eotech xp2) and a folding rear ... Get a nice rail the first time I cheaped out at first and ended up going with the 14" fortis rev in fde I love it I have herd some people say it isn't comfortable but I beg to differ .... You've got every thing they could "ban" so take your time from here on out and build a gun that is good for YOU
