Does anyone have a delta ring  and a pair of calipers laying around? I need to know the inner diameter that houses the forearm and the depth of that ID. I am try to free float a Magpul MOE hand guard. The handguard has a tapered projection that I could measure to get close but I thought I would ask to see if someone could/would give me the sizes right off the delta ring.

                                                                                                                                             Thanks, 34fun

The MOE by design is not a free float handguard. It is designed to be retained front and back by the standard HG cap and Delta ring.  Are you going to build a NM tube to go under it?

I come up with: 1 3/4" ID and 1/8" depth. Hope that helps.

Yes that is the plan. I am planning on using titanium for a one piece barrel nut that will serve as a static delta ring. Then connect it to a titanium tube and connect that to a flange with tapped holes. Then drill corresponding holes in the forearm cap so that when those screws are tightened, it draws up on the handguard to keep it captive but floated.

Thats gona be a lot of work. You could shorten a match free float tube to take the carbine moe handguards to get the same effect. That's the one DPMS and RockRiver sells for service rifle competition(uses standard rifle handguards). Just a thoughtl....
