Hello everyone. I've got a bit of a hangup that should be super easy to fix, but I can't seem to find the solution anywhere I look. The more I read, the more confused I get.
I'm currently building my first build, but have a couple questions regarding the buffer tube. I have a Black Rain Ordnance lower receiver that I outfitted with a CMMG lower parts kit and now my next step is to install the stock onto my lower. I have decided on putting a Magpul PRS stock onto my lower, but I can't figure out for the life of me what kind/type of buffer tube I need to get that would be compatible with that particular stock. My ultimate goal is for this rifle to be a mid to long distance hunter and am looking at 18-20" barrels. I assume that I am going to need a rifle length buffer tube for the stock, but it doesn't look like just any buffer tube would do either. Does anyone have any good information for me? I keep reading information that contradicts itself and I think I'm making this much harder than it needs to be. THANK YOU! |

http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/Receiver-Extension-for-M16-Rifle-p/receiver%20extension%20m16%20rifle.htm BCM will have a spring and buffer for the rifle extension as well. At the link above read the description and review. Eta: make sure you get a rifle length spring and buffer.. Carbine will not work. |

If you are in the KC area OP let me know if you run into issues you need hands on help with. I build lots of rifles for myself and friends going on 20+ years now. I'm willing to help. Thank you! I appreciate your help very much. I'm not in the KC area though. I'm about 2 hours west of you in Manhattan. So far, everything has been coming together real well, but I'll definitely keep your offer in mind. My parents are from the KC area, so if I need help, maybe it will be an excuse to visit my parents. |

I have a bench and a vice and all the armorers tools and spare parts. I'm good up until about 4 - 6 beers, plan accordingly. Lol Quoted:

That's good to know. The one thing I really need to invest in is a better vice. The el cheapo I'm using right now is just barely sufficient. I've been meaning to get a nice vice for my work table, but I just haven't shelled out the extra money for it yet. I've been buying up tools as I need them and since this has been a slow going process, I'm able to really plan everything out and make sure that it will be a one specialty rifle in the end instead of just a hodge podge of everything. As for the beers, I'm a bit of a lightweight. 3-4 beers and I'm about toast. This is a bad thing since I even brew my own beer..... Maybe I should try brewing something a little less potent? |
