I'm looking for some bare (0%) AR receiver forgings. I figured these would be available again, as it seems the "lower panic" has subsided (variety of sub-$100 lowers on the market again, etc). So far, however, my "usual suppliers" list has turned up nada. Tactical Machining, DSA, etc do not yet have bare forgings listed on their websites. Anyone know of a vendor that has bare forgings in stock, at "normal" pricing? |

While I'm glad to have them, these forgings are nowhere near as nice as the forgings I purchased from DSA a couple years ago. These would appear to be "seconds", or otherwise blems. Sanding / scuff marks at the bottom of the magwell flares, "blobs" of material above the bolt release pin boss (same place / shape on each one...apparently a forging issue), etc. Nothing that I can't live with (I'm likely to fubar a couple anyway, just trying to machine them), but...not what I expected (basing my expectations on the prior group from DSA). FYI. |
