After agonizing over how to finish machining an 80% lower, trying not to render it from a paper weight to a piece of scrap metal, I took the plunge today with a little help from my brother. He vacuumed out the chips and sprayed lube on the part and the drill bits/end mills. It came out perfect with a smooth finish on the walls and floor of the fire control pocket. I then assembled it with a previously purchased lower parts kit and everything fit and functioned properly. I did it on a drill press with no DRO's and had to measure carefully. I came to within .0005 of the blue print readout.and that was good enough for me. It took about 4.5 hours but that was because I measured 2 or 3 times before proceeding to the next pass.I think I can better my time on the next one. Oh-oh, there is gonna be a next one?
