I'm doing a cheap build using a NFA lower. Everything seems to go fine with a little wriggling and fitting here and there. But when I get to the take down pin, it would not insert into the upper. The holes are not aligned.
Seems that the charging handle is pushing against the top of the buffer tube screw on area, now allowing the pin hole to align. When I take out the charging handle the hole align and the take down pin inserts with little wriggling. I'm not sure if anyone has run into this issue with NFA lowers. If so, what are some possible solutions? To make sure it's not the upper, I tested another lower receiver from another manufacturer and everything fits perfectly. It's definitely the NFA lower.

I was thinking about sanding this area down, but hesitant, due to the possible void of warranty. It may also weaken the polymer lower, causing cracks in the future.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

I have two other charging handles and they're having the same issues.

Try an aluminum lower.

Call NFA, They'll take care of you.

Please share how much cheaper it was to build with the NFA lower vs an aluminum lower...which are available for less than $100.  I am curious how much you saved with the inferior lower...I mean cheaper lower.

It wasn't much cheaper. I bought it during the madness, when there were no available options within my budget. I live in MD, where they just passed the assault weapons ban, effective 10/1/13. It was just a panic buy.

I also have two other aluminum lowers bought afterwards when the options are available.

Seems like a logical reason to have bought the NFA lower.  Now sell it to someone else and build on your aluminum lower.  Problems solved.  Good luck and lesson learned.

Dont buy a new charging handle, dont buy a new lower. You just need I file down the flat area of the lower that the charging handle is hitting. The area right above the threads for the buffer tube. Had to do that on two NFA builds I did earlier this year.

Well those pictures certainly make the case for not buying that lower.

More and more NFA problems coming up recently. Not that I didn't know the risk but I also panic bought few months back (march). It was at least the complete lower. Going through my build I have all my parts and my PSA upper arrives tomorrow. Very curious to see how this plays out.
