Does anyone know of a good place in AZ in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area where I can get a lower anodized? Or if you know how to do it and what supplies I would need I am also up for the "at home solution".

Wright Armory - Brian Wright
He is located in the C2 building in Tempe, he is not directly affiliated with C2 so his prices are not ridiculous like theirs.

I've not taken any gun parts there yet, but I've used Southwest Metal Finishing for camera parts and have had excellent results.

Thanks for the information. One more thing to ask on this post. I was originally recommended to bring my lower to a place that does powder coating. Does that add enough thickness to mess up the fit of a lower parts kit? And does anodizing add thickness? if you can answer those questions that would be great.

US Anodizing is licensed as a 07/SOT, and can accept your lower, anodize it, and ship it back to you directly.  It cost me about $100 +shipping both ways to get my SBR lower re-done (which is essentially the same as getting an unfinished lower anodized).

I personally do not know the answer for this. Brian has done anodizing for a lot of weapons. He can answer any questions you have. Give him a call very easy to talk to and get along with.

Type III hard coat anodizing adds a film thickness of .0012-.0020. U.S. Anodizing will gauge and ream your lower prior to anodizing. Your guy in AZ probably will too, but ask to be sure.
