wussup everyone!....just a quick intro; I was just recently introduced to firearms towards the end of last year and i was hooked. I bought my first firearm in feb., a 12ga mossberg 500. Then i bought a glenfield marlin model 60 which was a cheap pawn shop find ($70)  that i refinished/restored. Next, another cheap pawn shop find, a 1907 g.e.w.98 mauser (8mm). My latest acquisition is an ACT Tactical anodized 80% lower which was a bday gift from a close friend. You tube has been a major learning tool for everything i've been learning; from full assembly/disassembly to reviews. It has also drastically changed my political views and led me into the world of prepping/survival. im sure im not alone when i mention that my wife wasnt too happy about my new expensive hobby, but she's a good sport and has joined in on the fun. My kids have also been part of the learning process, which puts firearm safety and respect before all. I definietly have a 1911 in the plans for my collection along with various other firearms that are must haves for me.

Im was thinking about heading towards a 5.56 build, but decided on .223 simply because of its popularity, which theoretically makes it a better choice for a shtf situation. im going for a tactical  mid range build.  Right now, my dilemma is choosing between a single or dual stage trigger. i understand its a matter of preference, but i cant seem to find what tactical or functional advantages one has over the other.

if this build works out, it should be motivating enough to for a 1911 build. lol, i know im jumping ahead quite a bit, but im too excited to not think about the finished product and whats to follow.

anyways, this forum seems like it will be a major factor in the process, so i thank you in advance.

You should go 5.56, it will shoot .223. You just don't want to go the other way around. It's not recommended to shoot 5.56 out of a .223 chambered firearm.

Welcome! This site and this forum will be a great resource. Start here and read everything thoroughly: http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_3_118/492084_AR15_Discussions__FAQ___Read_First_.html

I know you are new, but you have a lot of research to do. Definitely go 5.56 as stated above, no sense in going .223 unless you are looking for some sort of Wylde chambered long range match gun or something. As for triggers, what is your budget, what is your end goal i.e. long range, cqb, general purpose, they all make a big difference.

Read, read, read. If you don't Google before asking elementary questions you will get flamed. Good luck!
