| Ill be swapping out my a2 16" uppers for a 14.5 pinned or 16" barrel with a lighter profile? How sturdy are lightweight profile barrels and will it reduce a significant amount of weight? If not sturdy what profile do you recommend? |

i picked up one of these for the wife's new rifle. i like it so much, i may buy one for myself |

My son recently built his first AR using a lightweight 16" barrel from AR Performance. The drop in barrel weighs 1 lb 9 oz, the completed rifle weighs 6 lbs 6 oz. Wilson Combat makes a similar barrel in SS. If you want a lightweight AR, with a 16" barrel so you can change muzzle devices at will, look for a barrel that weighs less than 2 lbs. - CW

If you go 14.5" go LW for sure but If your gonna rock the 16" I'd do a M4 profile. I hate the government profile barrels yet others love them...... I like the gov profile just because its the same size from gas block to flash hider and I don't have a 40mm launcher. LW in my opinion looks weird because it slims down after the FH and to me looks toyey. But I was assured (by DD) that a LW can stand anything the others can except for being the aforementioned prybar. |
