Is there a difference between the sights listed for airsoft use on Amazon and the more expensive sights elsewhere. They look the same to me. Should I not buy the one for airsoft. They are $20 for a pair

Yes, the airsoft ones are junk and made of inferior polymer.

Yeah huge difference....also I know the front magpul sight couldn't handle the piston block I had from Adam's Arms ....lol I melted the front sight after almost 200 rounds.

They specifically say not to mount them on a gas block because they will not stand up to the heat. It pays to read sometimes.

Airsoft ones are not meant for use on a real weapon OP, I'd be surprised if they even stayed sighted properly

nah I had just got one of the first Adams Arms before they had that warning label, I was even in the forum threads on AA talking about it. Trust I didn't do it on purpose.

The PTS sights are for toys. It doesn't matter that they're made by Magpul.

PTS dont' lock up as tight, don't hold zero as well, and have a polymer front sight post...

A person does not always get what he pays for, but this would be one of those cases where you definitely would not get what you did not pay for.

Personally I think that when buying a BUIS system that's just about but not the last place to cheap out. You don't cheap out on these, in order of importance. I  Barrel,  2 BCG, 3 Optics, 4 Trigger, 4 BUIS  . Use whatever stock you like same for hand guard or rail system I happen to use Troy BUIS. Very solid. Use one as a stand alone till I get another ACOG.
I also believe that anyone that buys PLASTIC sights, is either a Magpul nut. Or a person that plays with guns, with no real world experience with them. In a harsh environment.

The way to tell if they are the airsoft PTS sights or the ones for real rifles, is that the PTS ones have a fully threaded screw that mounts the sight. The ones for real rifles have a smooth section on the mounting screw.

Pikie, have you seen the test where they dropped a rifle with MBUS, Troys, and I believe Knight Armament sights?  The MBUS was only 1 moa off, the Troys were bent and 3 moa off, and I believe the Knights were 11 moa off. What are your thoughts on the test and how the MBUS held up compared to metal?

Damn, can't ho outside with out messing up. Actually I'd like to see that test, if you had a link to it. As long as it's not a U-tube. I live way out in the sticks and my connection is shit!
But it's never too late for an old dog to learn new tricks!!

I like the YHM sights.  I don't like the polymer sights.  Just my personal opinion.

I got a pair of the PTS off of Ebay and they look good, but the polymer just feels flimzy. I have a few pairs of REAl NBUS and they are very good. Just spend the extra and buy the real stuff.
