I have bought my rail and barrel nut. Looking to buy a gas block. The block I took off was a clamp on model. Do i have to go with a low pro clamp on?
Is there any way I can go with a set screw gas block? If so how do I make sure the set screws actually grip the barrel. I know blue loct tite is a must. Thanks for any help guys. My barrel is smooth all the way around. |

There is a very good discussion on this subject here: http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_3_4/565269_How_necessary_is_it_to_dimple_a_barrel_for_gas_block_set_screws_.html
I think the gist of it is that dimpling is not required, but is good IF done right. And clamp style blocks tend to work better than set screw style. My $0.02: I like the advantages of clamp style, but keeping them perfectly aligned as you are tightening them up can be a bit of a pain. YRMV |
