I purchased an ACT trigger for a Seekins build i did last year right before the election. By no means am i a trigger expert, but it definitley feels nicer and breaks cleaner than a standard mil spec. Fast forward to two weeks ago, Joe Bobs send me an email alert that they have the ACT trigger in stock. Excellent! I am working on a light weight build and was waiting until i could get another ACT trigger to start the build. I received the trigger this week and the finish on it seems to be a flat gray. The finish looks like flat gray spray paint and does not feel "slick" like the first one i bought which had the standard NIBX satin nickel "looking" finish. My question is have they changed the process to speed up production since they are slammed like everyone else? or did i just recieve a trigger that got through QC? I tried going to te website to send them an email but there website is pretty basic with no options for customer service. Has anyone else with multiple ACT triggers come across this?
I apologize for the GIANT picture I do not know how to make it smaller EDITED:spelling, grammer http://<ahttp://i.imgur.com/heyOvMa.jpg</a>" /> |

same question here. below is a quote from their flyer which implies that your new one may be the right way. maybe?
"Testing has shown that differential coating of the trigger parts contributes to the sharpness of the ACT's single stage pull. The trigger component is plated with Nickel-Boron which has a high surface hardness combined with excellent wear resistance. The color is a pleasing matte light grey that may be painted on non-functional surfaces if the shooter so desires (such as the trigger bow that is visible outside the lower receiver). The hammer, disconnector and trigger/hammer pins are plated with Nickel-Teflon which combines a low coefficient of friction with good wear resistance. The Teflon impregnation colors the metal a mottled, greyish/green. Parts coated with Nickel-Teflon cannot be painted. Both coatings are highly corrosion resistant eliminating the oil seal of traditional phosphated firearm components." |
| Bigjoelee, that sure sounds like they have changed the finish, because my original trigger is definitely not paintable. I'm not sure why someone would want to paint their trigger, but you never know. I really liked the original finish. its crazy that they would change it from a finish that looks like NIBx to a finish that looks like i spray painted it in my garage. In my opinion the old finish looks high-end and the new finish looks cheap. They should at least offer a choice between the two finishes. I am still going to attempt to reach someone at ALG to get the final word. I will be sending an email with pics to sales@algdefense and I will share the reply I get from them, here. |

ALG is going through changes in plating suppliers. One of the results is that ALG has changed from the NiB-X coating to a very hard chrome coating that offers more consistency. The feel of the triggers is the same. ALG is making these changes in a continuing effort to offer you a top quality product. Thank you for your continued support.

I sent an email complete with pictures but i never received a reply from ALG.
Hipwrguitar, thank you for the reply sir. I would like to relay my opinion for whoever is listening over at ALG/Geissele. Please do not take this as complaining or scolding. I have not yet installed the trigger so i cannot speak of the difference in feel from the Nib-x to the new finish, but i am sure its the same as you stated, but i can tell you that the new finish on this trigger in my opinion makes the trigger look cheap compared to the old finish that looks like a high end trigger. I hope that this change is temporary. or that maybe in the future you can offer both finishes. Thank you again for taking the time to reply. |
